This solution enables you to reduce harmful emissions from your vessel operations. By embracing electric and hybrid propulsion, you can actively contribute to environmental sustainability. Various applications, or operation profiles need to be considered, and require tailor-made solutions that ensure you maximum vessel efficiency and minimized environmental impact.
You can tackle the challenges posed by harmful emissions in maritime operations. The solution addresses the complexities of implementing low and zero-emission operations, offering you a flexible and effective power and energy system tailored to various propulsion system architectures, vessel operations, and physical constraints.
Whilst Meeting Regulatory Requirements
- The MOVEe Power and Energy Management System (PEMS) provides you with a modular and flexible solution suitable for both pure electric and hybrid propulsion systems, ensuring adaptability to various vessel configurations.
- By utilising 'fit for purpose' components and sub-systems you can optimize power and energy systems for small, compact, or fast crafts, enhancing your vessel’s efficiency and performance.
- Electric propulsion, particularly suited for vessels with limited duration or energy consumption between charges, promotes high energy efficiency and lighter weight, helping you with cost optimization and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Hybrid propulsion configurations provide versatility, allowing operators to choose between diesel engine, electric motor, or both (boost mode), adapting to diverse operational profiles and targets for zero-emission operation.
What To Consider
For vessels which can operate predominantly on energy stored in the battery, a full electric propulsion line with an electric motor driving the propeller, based on PM technology or a traditional asynchronous electric machine, is the preferred choice
A diesel generator set may supplement the energy stored in the battery system for extended operations. The architecture selection and component technologies are optimized based on your vessel's individual operation profile, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
In cases where your vessel's energy needs significantly exceed the battery capacity, a hybrid propulsion system comes into play. Main propulsors can be driven by both a diesel engine or an electric motor, selected by the operator through our PEMS control system.
This hybrid configuration provides you with the flexibility to power propulsion through the diesel engine, electric motor, or both, with the added option to charge batteries while in diesel engine power mode. Dimensioning of system components is tailored to your vessel's operation profile and the operator's objectives for reduced emissions
You can gain a solution that provides you with an efficient, environmentally conscious alternative, offering tailored systems that meet the diverse demands of vessel operations whilst contributing to a sustainable, net-zero emissions future.
To Traditional Systems
Traditional maritime propulsion systems are based on diesel engines and generator sets, burning MGO (diesel). These power systems contribute significantly to harmful emissions and fall short in addressing the urgent need for decarbonization in the maritime sector.
Retrofitting of existing vessels with cleaner technologies may be an alternative but may also poses a challenge due to the limitations of the hull. In some systems you may switch to renewable fuels, such as HVO, while in other applications a more invasive approach is needed.
Electric and hybrid propulsion solutions offer you a progressive alternative with a comprehensive approach to tackle emission reductions head-on. A tailored solution to you needs and the vessels operation profile, mans that you can integrate green electric power and advanced battery systems, promoting efficiency, adaptability, and a start on a clear path to a net-zero emissions future.
